The Week In Review

This week has been, in a word, draining. Coming into the week we expected good news. Last week if you asked the average follower of college hockey what they thought UAH’s odds were of being denied entry into the CCHA the likely response would have started with a laugh. Then it would have spiraled into questions of your own sobriety. But reality was far more cruel to the Chargers, it’s fans and college hockey fans as a whole, so here we are.

In the five days following that fateful announcement there have been a multitude of articles, both published online and in print, chronicling the the thoughts, confusion, and sheer anger people have had towards the CCHA’s denial of UAH’s bid to enter it’s ranks. Overwhelmingly the response to Tuesday’s announcement have been in our favor, but there are few detractors in the mix.

This list is by no means comprehensive, and there are a few that I’ve likely missed, but as you can gather from the majority of articles listed, hockey fans are not happy. As well they shouldn’t be. Beside being a blow to the Chargers, the events of August 11 will reverberate throughout the college hockey world.

Since Wednesday, more than 1,700 people have become fans of our effort on facebook via the Save UAH Hockey page. We’ve started a Twitter account, that you can follow along via saveuahhockey, and this website. In the coming days we’ll be rolling out t-shirts, posters and stickers for purchase to support the effort to save out program. 100% of the proceeds from sales of those items will be donated to the team.

Our fight is only just beginning. We need to stay the course and together we will save UAH hockey.
