First Coach’s Lunch a huge success

WMU head coach Jim Culhane addresses those in attendance at the first Coach's Lunch of the 2009-2010 season.
The first Coach’s Lunch for the 2009-2010 season was held in the Varsity Room of Spragins Hall on campus at noon today. To say that it was a tremendous success would be an understatement. Every single seat in the room was filled to hear Coach and visiting Western Michigan University Coach Jim Culhane speak to those in attendance.
Coach Culhane fielded a few questions from those in attendance, and eventually the question of his thoughts on the snub by the CCHA towards UAH was asked. One can’t expect a man to be candid with a response to a question like that, but Coach Culhane did an excellent job artfully expressing his opinion on the matter, going so far as saying that he was “concerned about the strength of hockey overall.” Coach Culhane pointed out that the decision to exclude UAH from the CCHA was not made by the coaches (thank the ADs for that), but as a coach of a hockey program he believes that you wouldn’t be able to find a single coach at any program that necessarily agreed with it. He added that he feels that UAH will have no problem getting teams to play the program here or on the road in the future.
Those interested in future attendance at the Coach’s Lunch should contact Sheila Ray (raysj@uah.edu) to RSVP for the event. Lunch is catered by Wings and costs $8 per person. The event is open to anyone.
